What is this email I received about keeping my domain information up-to-date?
If your organization has a website, you might receive this email from time to time. These are automated emails from your domain name registrar, and usually contain strange words like “ICANN” and “WHOIS”.
Every domain name (e.g., yoursite.com) has an associated record that details the domain name owner (you), administrative manager, and technical contact. The records include your address, phone number, email address, and optionally a fax number.
These records need to be kept current for two reasons:
- It is required by law. Otherwise the domain name could legally be taken from you.
- It lets people contact you regarding the domain name, including warnings if someone is trying to hijack or delete your domain name.
If you registered your domain name through ArrowQuick, then you have nothing to worry about — we make sure your domain name records are updated with your newest information. However, we only update the records if we know something has changed. If your address or contact information has changed, please let us know! Then you can sleep safely knowing that ArrowQuick has you covered.
